China Day 27 - Hectic

Its close to the end of my OITP and im so looking forward to going back. I'd miss a little more things here that i initially said i would miss though.

The Shopping, i love the variety, The food/healthy breakfast, I like how without fail, i would eat eggs and watermelon everyday. Especially watermellon, i have it almost every meal. The Ice cream from the cafeteria. I love the fact that it is free flow.
The good, non humid conditions, I hadnt had a flu since getting off the plane.

I'd miss all of that.

But nonetheless, these are not everything.. I cant wait to get back to my loved ones. I cant wait to see the familiar faces again.

Well, i know i havnt been blogging much, Its because im too busy shopping, or too busy resting. Its mind boggling to write a blog when youre knackered from a whole day in school then lots of shopping, its just nicer to sit infront of the computer, and absorb information rather than tell it.

But the days are ending soon and i only have so little time to shop, so i guess, ill have to go on shopping marathons already.. god, i hate staying so far from the city..

China Day 14 - Wasted day

I slept till 12 today.. tried to wake up for breakfast but didnt want to get out of the really warm bed. Tried to get up to put in the laundry but didnt want to move away from the bed.

So i slept till twelve. and boy, i love it.

2 Weeks have actually gone. Like seeriously. Im still intact, and infact, the time is passing quite quickly.

The things i've grown fond of here are the barbequed lamb, the variety in the shopping stuff, the weather, and playing soccer. Practical lessons too.

Otherwise. Bleah. nah, im not coming here again..

Today my group of 7 people ventured into the wilderness to look for lamb sticks. and lamb sticks did we find.

Bleah, im lazy to continue a witty blog post, so youre stuck here with my factual boring "history lecture"-esque story of what i did today.

We found food, firstly, the Lamb sticks that im so fond of. If i didnt tell you before, its one of the best food here. Or not, THE BEST. (i havnt tried the damn duck tho, which is still sitting in my fridge as we contemplate how to eat it properly)

Anyway, then we split into small groups and shopped. Till 3, before we sat and ate (3 people ordered 20 dumplings for an equivalent of 1.20 Sing dollars. Whoopie. I was too filled up with lamb and 20 cent icecreams to bother eating more than 3.

So since the place wasnt interesting, i split with the group and decided to go shop in another place alone. And i loved the freedom.

I was a bit lost as it didnt look like anything in the maps, so i just went to the nearest building, and shopped, then to the next one, and the next one. Eventually rounding the large circle of malls and coming back to the same place.

Empty handed, i still had a few more minutes to go, so i walked out of the circle of malls, down to the streets at the back. Nothing much either. Oh wells.

Tired, i must have walked for miles. So i headed back to the station, then met my group at this restaurant near the hotel and watched them have dinner. I wasnt hungry yet, so i decided to take back some macdonalds. I love their chicken sandwhich..

Anyway, slept a bit on the bus back to the hotel, but it only made me more sleepy. And then here i am.. uploading photos and blogging, not really feeling any pinch despite the fact that theres a mini test tmr, and my results for my semestral exams are coming out tomorrow. hmm. bleah, im confident okays. Cept for calculus of course.

China day 12 - Soccer

The day was overcast, grey and cold.

Nonetheless, it was a more interesting day at school than usual. I dont know why but i was completely knocked out during the morning class, like, sometimes, i would forget to reopen my eyes after blinking.

The first hour was okay, i dont know why but i was quite in a good studying mood, then after that i kinda became really flaccid..

Lunch came as a gift.. I didnt want the teacher to spot me being all floppy the whole day, and i was glad that lunch time came. I slept a bit more while the class slowly emptied the classroom and made their way to the cafeteria some 10 mins away.

Then, having heavy feet, i dragged my way there by myself. Listened to "Rage against the music" and put the song "sleep now in the fire" on loop.

Food was semi good today, as it was a public holiday and no one was using the cafeteria but our group, so they cooked french fries and meat, more "children friendly" foods.

Went back, and it was practical time. The teacher brought us to the workshop to point out the components that we have learnt in the classes..

but because its a big group, only a small amount of people were able to fit in the confined spaces under the aircraft engine, so not everybody understood what was going on..

I tried to get as close as possible to listen however, sometimes the other people are talking too loud and sometimes the teacher shifts position and im unable to see what he is referring to..

So i always had to go back and ask my friends, which are usually as confused as me. oh wells.. time to study the manual then..

The fun part came when some people wanted to dismantel one of the engine fan blades.. And he let us do it.. then he also assigned groups to dismantel simple things.

Another group got to dismantle another engine, which had much larger blades.. and our group got to dismantle the engines rear bearing case..

So we got our wrenches and started un screwing. Heh, and when the cover to the bearings finally opened. Gosh, the smell. 1 words keeps coming to my mind. "chao chee bye".

I dont think it smells anything like smelly body parts though, more of.. other stuff.

I dont know, but it smells godly funky, like lots of dead fish or squid, with a coppery smell. with lots of other funky undescribable smell..

JQ says it smells like someone rubbed his shit with salted vegetable and left it in the bearing case for a while to decompose.

Anyway, it was all fun, the oil looked like squids ink, with a tinge of navy blue in it. But i suspect its not the real engine oil, but just some oil used to preserve the parts when its stationary.

So that was fun, and since its a friday, 2 groups decided to go out to play soccer..

It was really fun, and i had never ran so much recently. The weather really helps keep us comfortable, and i think the other guys played the full 90 mins.

Scored 2 goals, :) happy that my skills are still there, just dont have confidence on the ball and also making silly mistakes.

Oh wells..

So im back home now, with no pictures in hand after a fun day. heh. srry.. i got lazy with the camera.

Ill bring my camera along the next time round, i promise. :)

It'll be another 2 weeks more before i get home.. and i cant wait.

Sharlene would be going to HK for 1 week, so thats good too since she hates staying at home.. at least it would keep her mind occupied while im away so she wont think about being lonely..

Yay. im in quite high spirits, probably cuz of soccer today too ba.. mmmm

China Day 11 - Shopping

Today was a good day, though it didnt start out as what i would have liked.

I woke up at 7am, and thought, ahh, wth, ill go back and sleep.. Since i have always waked up at 7.40am, i still have another 40 mins of sleep..

Apparently JQ woke me up again at 7.40, telling me that he was going out already, so usually, ill get up then and start preparing for school, however, this time, i dont exactly remember why i decided to sleep more.

So the next time i woke up was when my group leader and JQ burst into my room telling me to wake up. I thought it was a joke. Hahaha

I was still in a daze, and part of my mind was still trying to look for sharlenes skirt, cuz i dreamt that i was in her room. Lol

I got out in like 2 mins. It was a record. But i never been this late before, and when i finally got up on the bus at 8.22 (the bus should leave at 8.15), everyone in the bus clapped for me.

Gosh how embarrassing

Nonetheless, school was tiring as usual, but i was really fresh cuz i found out that i could bring tea to the classroom, so i brought some down from the canteen..

JQ was shocked at the amount of coffee-mate i put in my tea.. (i was trying to make milk tea using coffe-mate).. haha \

Anyway, it kept me awake even though everyone was falling asleep around me.

I had plans for this night, and it was to go out and shop by my self since i hated being in groups. That plan was foiled when the teacher assigned us by groups. So i was stuck to the group for a long time and couldnt go around by myself.

So i basically brought them to where i shopped earlier on, then we broke up into smaller groups and me and another guy went shopping. We walked really quick since he was looking for specific things and we skipped a few floors. Saw a lot of things that sharlene would like, or i'd like sharlene to have.. haha tempted to buy a lot of unnecessary stuff..

Then after that it was back to the hotel, but not before having my dinner, eating a 60Cents stick of lamb that is so damn nice, that i'd consider going back there just to buy it again.

Although i havnt been talking about her in the previous past blog posts, it doesnt mean that i have completely forgotten about her. for the way i write blogposts while overseas, i try to recount what has happened during the day, and i gets a bit cold, since i dont put any thoughts outside of what subject is being discussed.

But for those who want to know, shes always constantly on my mind. Whether it is during breakfast, school, during practicals, dinner, and at night. Every small fragment of a memory with her, would replay..

Most of the times, its the simple advice of, "come back in one piece". Others are more emotional, like the last time we danced together, or that day in the cash exchanger stall. Sometimes its calculation, of how long more can i stand being away, and ill imagine the week without each other, and then become sad.

1 month is a long time.

The more cheerful memories are the more recent ones. Her playfulness and mischeviousness, even while on skype with her. Her constant attempts to make me like gay/fat/hairy guys, or nasty pictures of fat people wearing sexy clothings.

Others that really makes me smile is when i imagine her sleeping soundly, or doing any other mundane activity. The peaceful smile on her face while she sleeps, or the look of concentration when she is at work, makes me smile easily.

And without fail, those memories would always make me smile to myself.

Shes a special girl, especially special to my heart. I love her, and it doesnt change, just like how she will always be special to me. in her own lovely ways. :)

China Day 8 - School as usual

Today happened just like any other school day, and i have nothing much to talk about, or share about...

We started on a new topic today, and it is going to take us 6 days to complete this topic. One of the longest topic during this course.

We are learning about the engines now, and the proper maintainence of the engine. Our teacher assures us that what we are learning, is the same as what the people in the real world are learning, as engineers for the pratt and whitney engine.

Im quite flattered. We are just still students. And we already can say that "hey, i know how to maintain that engine". And at the end of the day we would have a certificate that proves it.

Fantasies aside, theres nothing much to talk about. I didnt take pictures the whole day till at the end of the day, after im back in the hotel room.

The sky was beautiful with a wisp of clouds, and planes were landing at the airport.

So i took the opportunity to take photos of planes. and they turned out quite well..

It was so nice too, when the sun shone into our room, but because of the limitations of the camera, i couldnt take the scene because either it looked too bright, or it looked too dark.

Took some pictures from JQ's camera too, cuz i was lazy to change my camera lens to a wider lens. will get those photos from him later...

Other wise, that was the day.. a nice resting day..

China Day 7 - Shopping

Its sunday, and today, the class is split into 2 groups. The majority wanted to go to a theme park (costing some 35 singapore dollars), while the rest of us, seeing that its not worth it, decided to go out alone by ourselves..

Since we were incharge of our own plans, we only woke up at 11 plus and took the 12.30 shuttle bus out to town.

I woke up late so was frantically running around asking the receptionist and staffs about the various shopping areas and stuff..

Luckily, one of my group members is quite fluent in chinese, so i grabbed him from his little chat group in the lobby and got him to translate what i wanted to say. hahah

What i found was 2 additional shopping areas that we havnt heard of (its mostly for locals) and also, i found out a place full of warehouses that sell stuff.. Hmm so its all good, as i have many more places to go already.

After that, when we boarded the bus, no one was quite sure what the teacher had planned to bring us today, so i asked him and he told me it was this old shopping place full of antiques and shit.

and im like thinking, oh sian. So i told him about my plans to go shopping and also, since the new shopping place is quite close by, i told him that we could visit that place after we finished the antiques place...

So we walked the antiques place, and it didnt really entirelly peak my interest, it was quite boring. The place just had lots of custom jade or stone stamps, (those chinese type), jade seals, lots of painting shops and brushes. The pace was slow, and i was impatient, heh.

We finished walking the East street, but now we were looking for food, we walked on further, till we found a decent looking place to eat at. We passed by many shops on the way, but they were dingy roadside shops, and we didnt want to get a stomach ache.

The food wasnt good. I ordered beef and potato rice, but there was like 95% potato and 5% beef. It wasnt really a good stall anywawy..

After lunch, we walked back the way we came, as the teacher wanted to visit the West street now, i couldnt take the slow pace anymore, so i decided to form my own group and go to the shopping place early.

Me plus JQ and Jasper split from the rest of the group, and we headed off to the shopping center.

We didnt really know where we were going, so we wandered around, when we reached the place, emerging from the subway exit, it was quite an amazing sight, before us stood a few shopping malls, from high end looking ones to low end looking ones.

And what caught my eye was the pedestrian bridges. It was very large and had open air escalators. It was the first time i have seen escalators in the open air, i always thought they werent really weather resistant.

The first mall we went to was full of high end shops, so we went outside, slightly demoralised, but we aimed for the older looking buildings across the road, so we went there.

On the way there were those street stalls, and we shopped. It was good shopping, and i bought a nasty singlet. Juicy coutoure shoes were going at 5 singapore dollars. wow.

Jasper bought a watch for 10 singapore dollars, its a really nice watch, and we managed to get it down from like 20.

After that, we visited the ajacent shopping mall, and boy, it was a Girls heaven. 5 of the 6 floors were girls stuff. And we still shopped like crazy :)

We all agreed that it was a good shopping mall, better than the one at the famous silk road.

After shopping, we went back to the silk road place to catch a 8.30 bus. Nearly missed the bus because it came too early. Luckily, we all managed to fit into the bus, as it was already filling up quickly.

Went home, plopped our stuff down, and i got ready to upload the pictures of the loot. heh.

Anyway, it wasnt a really long day, but it was definitely a good day. I realise that whenever i split from the main group and form my own little group, we always get to see more things and have a better day than the rest.

Day 6 - China, forbidden city

A free day today, yet we still had to leave the hotel at 8. Our teacher had booked a bus for the class and we were to head to the forbidden city and also visit the temple of the heavens today.

We first visited the temple of heavens, which consisted of 2 large circular temples and really really large flat pieces of marbled floor.

It was quite meaningless without a tour guide, explainig the history that happened here, and to us, it was just a large expensence of space that was quite awesome.

Thinking of it now, it was probably filled with thousands of people or prayer materials or something. Yes, its quite meaningless without a tour guide..

We spent a huge amount of time in the temple of heavens, which was quite a wastage since there wasnt much to see in the temple of heavens. But since it was a large group, (not to mention, filled with complete i****s, they were so distracted/amazed by stupid things that they kept stopping to take photos whenever they saw something amazing.

An example? People using a large paint brush, painting caligraphy on the floors using just water. My classmates spent like 10 mins taking photos and being in awe, and then when they finally moved ahead, they realise that there is another man doing the same thing, and they would be equally amazed.

God.

We spent a good morning in that silly place, and then after we had lunch, we set off to walk to the forbidden city, through the tian an men square.

Yes, the place that has been shown on countless occasions on news and stuff. Im actually in it. And its impressive. Seeing the large Chinese flag flying up high over this epic parade square brought some pride to me. (oh man)..

It got me thinking why singapore did not have such things that made singaporeans proud. bleah.

The place was huge, and magnificient, only marred by the constant smog that blankets the city.

Pictures would never describe how big it looks in real life, its one of the things you must feel for your self. And not to mention, the sense of Epicness is heightened by the fact that so much history has taken place there.

We walked some distance, but we didnt really mind, the weather was cool and it wasnt as humid as it is back home. Soon we were at the gates of the forbidden city.

And boy, how epic was the wholle thing.

I had my wide angle on my camera yet its so hard to even capture everything due to the scale.

The buildings of the forbidden city are built atop high walls that are like 4 stories tall, and the buildings are about 4 stories tall to. So added up, you can just imagine how high and large the whole place is..

The pace was a lot faster this time, Vicky, our guide from pratt and whitney was rushing us through the forbidden city, and we barely have time to stop and take pictures.

Considering how spread out we were, due to the fact that some people were left behind when they wanted to take pictuers, while some are ahead of the group, its quite surprising that we had no problems of missing persons during the entire trip.

Forbidden city looks exactly like in the chinese shows. Remember theres always this scene where this messenger is running through the many doors, past guards, down the center of the palace, to eventually pass the msg to the emperor while panting heavily?

Totally true. And actually being there, you can really tell why. The distance you have to cover while running to the emperor, is really long.

The whole scene looks more epic in real life too..

China - Day 5 AND MY 200th post!

Another day of studying "ACE".. I thought it was going to be another dreary day, however it turned out to be quite interesting..

People still dozed off in the morning,as we were still covering the theory part of the topic.. however, in the afternoon, we were made to play this simulation, much like some managing cost game in facebook..

We were split into groups of 4, and then each person was incharge of 1 imaginary company. The 4 companies work together to produce products.

We were given a chart which listed the most pressing problems that are hindering our work effiency, and within turns, we are supposed to distribute resources between our companies to create the highest efficiency and a good output of products within a certian number of turns.

Competiting against other groups, my group was the best. :) hehe

was quite fun.. everyone was awake and telling the teacher that we didnt need breaks. Nobody slept in class at all...

The other only notable thing that happened today was how much i got frightened when i realised that our schools teacher, is going over to the other OITP students in Tianjin. That means we would be cared for by Vicky, some staff from the training center..

and from the first few impressions of her, i dont really like her at all, as she is quite controlling..

So i was really afraid that due to the majority of the students in my class wanting to go to a useless theme park on saturday, and the zoo on sunday, Vicky would force the rest of us to follow..

Luckily, i quickly clarified with the overall incharge teacher from the training center, and got a green light to go anywhere i wanted as long as contact was maintained.

PHEW. I cant imagine going through the rest of the stay here in beijing Restricted to where a bunch of monkeys want to go..

Came back after class, slept a bit, while JQ went with others to gym.. hmm, sharlene called me :).. and we talked a while.. Then went back to sleep and then went out with JQ to have some beef steamboat.. didnt take pictures cuz i felt lazy..

hmm its odd that its rare to see pork around. odd. I see lots of stalls selling roasted ducks though..

and thats pretty much it..

I feel like playing sims now.. hehe... hmm gonna upload a few photos first though...

China - Day 4

some ACE exercises about efficiency. bleah

The day started like it has always started for the past few days.. The sky was still blue and the wind was chilly, but the sun is warming up the place nicely.

Todays lesson was about "ACE". I cant really remember what it stands for, but the jist of this thing is that is is based around a proactive work attitude. Somewhat like a bussiness model.

Solving problems before they happen, determining the root causes of problems, and working models to ensure effiiency and increaase cost effectiveness..

Business.. sigh, i never like business...

Class was long and draggy, and the only reason why we all looked forward to having breaks is because we could have uninterrupted sleep..

Yes, it was so boring i think EVERYONE slept in class at some point in time. Most of the time, 1/4 of the class was sleeping. The class was deadly silent, with everyone busy trying to stay awake.

Maybe it was combined with the fact that 1/2 the class went out to shop yesterday.. hmmm

Tomorrow will be another day of this "ACE" lessons... oh boy its gonna be a long long day.

Truth be told, the things taught in the ACE classes are actually quite interesting. They teach you how to solve problems systematically, so that you wont go into loops that never answer the question at hand.

Many different methods are used, and are usually simple to understand and implement. Charts such as elephant charts, fishbone charts, marcino charts and russo charts all have a very specific application to different sorts of problems..

Theres just so many charts with funny names, that its sometimes quite confusing. What happened to the simple business model of just looking at your income and spending and going by gut feeling. bleah.

Far by, the most annoying method to solve thing was the 5 whys method. Its called 5 whys because you ask so many whys. (and its not limited to 5)

hmm lemme think of an example..

background: Our company manufactures fan blades. Another company manufactures shaft. Our fan blades are perfectly fine, but the other company's shaft is not to specification. So essentially, its not our fault.

lets see how the 5-whys turn it into our fault.

Q: Why did our company allow defected parts to be sent to the customer?

A: Because all our quality assurance measures did not detect the defect

Q:Why didnt they detect the defect?

A:Because our product meets all our specification, however, its not compatible with the other companys shaft.

Q:why is it not compatible with our fan blades

A:because the other company shaft is out of specification

Q: so why didnt we figure out this earlier?

A: because we always thought that we should be concerned about the quality of our products only

Q:And why is that so?

A:because our company only cares about the quality of our product and not the satisfaction of our customer

Q:why do we only care about the product

A:Because our company bases costumer satisfaction on meeting date lines and providing quick service.

yep. So its our companys fault now.

Anyway...

Everyone decided to rest for the night, as the teacher suggested, since everyone was so wasted today.. Only me and JQ wanted to go out to shop..

The teacher also wanted to go out too, cuz he needed to buy tickets to go to tian jing to ccheck up the other OIPT group of students that he is incharge of..

Reached the hotel, packed to go out again, and left at 5.10pm. when we went downstairs, the bus to the city had just left. damn..

So we took the shuttle to the airport and then trained to the city instead. The sky was beautiful on the way there, however i only had my wide angle lens with me, thus i couldnt get the sun.

But it was so huge in real life.. gosh how i wished for my zoom lens then..

The trains werent as crowded as before, but it was still squeezy. heh. and how easy it is for perverts to thrive.

My right hand was twisted and wedged between jia qing's bag and some china woman. but i didnt know it cuz my hand was like behind me and i was facing away, so i tried to wrench my arm free but didnt realise my hands were there till i felt the bra.

then i thought of sharlene. and how i wont bring her to china. haha.

She didnt react at all.. so i guess, being groped is part and parcel of taking public transport in china.. heh.

sick. Did i tell you that china men had bad breath. I'd rather have a multi-racial load in a train than one filled with china men talking.

Random.

We shopped, but it was quick and fast. We checked out rifle scopes, electronics, and some necklaces, before time was running out and i had to quickly skim through the tailor shops. bleah.

We were rushing cuz we wanted to take the 8.30 shuttle bus back to the hotel. And the next bus wouldnt come till 10.30, which was a bit too late..

So we shopped for 1.5 hours, with the .5 hours spent looking for food.. to no avail.

Slept on the bus ride home, totally knocked out. hehe...

When we arrived, JQ suggested we walk to the supermart to buy some maggie, so we walked there, was tempted by the roadside food but they were quite ex..

Returned home hungry and not too happy. today wasnt fruitful at all..

friday.. pls come quick. i cant wait to pass the 1 week mark. saying 3 weeks more to go is less depressing than saying theres still 4 weeks to go.

day 4 - china

Another day starts, and im another day closer to the last day. Maybe if i dont think about it, i wouldnt notice how little days has passed so far. It feels like theres just so much more to go.

I ate 2 nuggets for breakfast today, and went out to the stall that sold telephone cards near my hotel, however it was closed.. so i walked back to the hotel..

As i did that, i noticed that the sky was really nice, the best so far. The overcast clouds that was so familiar was nowhere to be seen at all. The sky was just an uninterrupted sea of blue.

The air was cold, certianly below 20 degrees celcius. It was a good thing i decided to wear my thickest jacket today. It did not necesscarly mean that it was too cold. The sun was bearing down on me, and it felt nice.

Today was the day that the whole class planned to go out to silk road to buy stuff, and the place is quite a famous shopping place. I was totally looking forward to this day, however, i wasnt sure of the plans yet, as the teacher was still planning the trip..

Class was draggy as usual, the only thing that facinated me was the fact that the humidity was at 25%. It must have been due to the fact that the sun was out and drying the air.

JQ was hooked on sims 3,and was constantly playing it.. it was draggy.. really draggy..

Lunch was good, there was good food, especially the meatballs. Drank more sprite from glass bottle. It just tastes nicer in the glass for some reason.

Took even more pictures while walking back, the sky was so beautiful, though the sun was a little too harsh sometimes.

Practical classes continued in the afternoon, and i did the saftey wire tying and learned something new. Then after that it was a test to test us on what we have learned so far in class..

So finally, the boring teacher's no longer going to teach us, as we move on to another subject tomorrow.. hmm, but i was just starting to like him, cuz he didnt really care if u were paying attention or not. haha

So we headed back to the hotel, and i clarified with the teacher that it was free and easy and that the only restraint was to be back in the hotel by 11pm.

Our group decided to take the suttle bus from the hotel to the business district, then take a subway from there down to the silk road. Another group and the teacher would then tag along with us.

Since the bus only came at 5.15, we still had about 1 hour free. most of my group decided to go to the shop Camel, to buy stuff.

I just wanted to buy the prepaid card, which i had to go to the supermarket which was beside camel. Unfortunately, i met with the teacher down in the lobby and he requested for me to stay and go with him to Camel. So i had to wait for the teacher and the group of people to prepare to go out, before i can then go out also..

I split with them at the supermarket, and bought my prepaid card. Had trouble saying top up card in chinese, and could tell that the people behind the counter were giggling a bit. Bleah.

Happily, i quickly rushed back to the hotel too.. I decided to take a video of me then, walking down the street, and it was a bit odd, talking to my phone and walking down the street..

people thought i was weird, but at least i was speaking english and i dont think they can understand. haha.

When i neared the hotel, i realised that i took the video sideways. crap. so i walked back to where i started, and videoed it the right way round. I tried to ignore the fact that ill look so weird.. hahah

Then i realised 2 other grp mates were coming towards me in the distance, and i bet they saw me double back and start talking to my phone again. hahaha crap.

I wasnt really a good videoblogger.. the video was angled wrongly most of the time. mostly because i was shy and wanted to pretend to hold the hp like im not videowing my self, while trying to video myself. hahha

Back in the hotel i quickly went upstairs, turned on my laptop to fireoff a quick email before i had to go downstairs again. Was almost late for the bus.

The bus ride there was quick, and we were presented with the beautiful sight of beijing at sunset. Unfortunately, the reflection of the window of the bus made it useless to take photos..

We arrived at the business district, and went underground to take the subway. A one way ticket only cost 2 yuan, and it could take us anywhere in the subway system.

The subway was pretty much like singapore's one, without the glass doors, and it was messier and older.Though it had x-ray machines that scanned everyones bag. They had one machine in every stations exit. hmmm maybe left over security measures from the beijing olympics.

We were in a rush hour squeeze, and we missed one train, but we were the first to board. Doesnt necessarily mean that it was good. The china men pushed us against the other people in the train. like some bully mashing you against the wall like that. gosh. maybe i shouldnt complain about singapore..

Its not like the train frequency was terrible, it was just that there were a ton of people to move around. The trains came about every 2 mins.

We reached our stop and first looked for dinner, crossing the road via their "pedestrian crossing" that wasnt pedestrian friendly at all. Even the china men cycling on bikes at high speed didnt slow down when we crossed, we just had to siam.

Gosh. We ate at this outdoor restaurant. The food was good, though we didnt order enough. I was too lazy to take pictures so JQ has most of the pictures.

JQ led the way by ordering silk work larvae. the whole group ate it.

If you didnt think about it, it tasted like salty mash potato within a crispy outer crust.

not that its so nice that i would buy silk worm just to taste that again.. nonetheless. it was quite cool hahah.

Called Sharlene at 7 plus, right after i knew her dance class was over. She sounded tired, haha, apparently she learnt rumba today and it was really tiring.

Missed everything back at home..

It was time to shop then, but JQ left with another group cuz some street not far from where we were was having the mid autumn festival celebration, JQ wanted to go there to take the lights. I just couldnt wait to go shop.

So i went with another group, but soon it was obvious that i needed to split from them. They were going too fast and i didnt want anyone to rush me into buying things. So i went around the place alone. And i liked it.

The camera attracted a lot of attention, and i felt that im going to get a higher price and a harder time to bargain if i kept holding the camera in my hands. So i decided to keep the camera.

There were a lot of things there, like a pasa malam. Or market stalls, those that sell clothes in chinatown..

The first and second floor that held lots of clothes. I found a lot but didnt want to get them as i was afraid that i couldnt haggle enough. One person quoted me a price of 50 sing dollars for a fake billabong hoodie. hmmm im really sure it goes a lot lower.

So i just scanned through the place, seeing whats there and such.. Saw some juicy coutoure sweaters too.. hmm told Sharlene about it..

Went futher up and saw shops selling lots of toys, from helicopters to replica guns. Wow. Really really tempted to buy..hahah

Then above that, there was 1 whole level of jewlery, plus electronics and stalls selling.. SNIPER SCOPES.

Its really freaking cool to look through one. I totally want to buy one lah omg.

The floor above were all tailors. I wanted to make a suit but just dont know what look to go for and how to handle it.. I was looking for a dance costume tailor too, but there were none..

Somewhat disappointed, i went to the basement, and passing by 1 shop, i saw 1 juicy couture bag on display. Luckily, i decided to ask if there were more bags.

The woman dug out a catalouge. I picked whichever i wanted to see, and she brought it to me in 1 mins time..

I was seriously spoilet for choice. I wanted to take a picture of all the things there in the catalogue, but the shop keeper wouldnt let me.

hmm so i bought something small. A wallet, for 33 singapore dollars. I think i could have hagggled somemore.. but oh wells. Its my first buy. Ill try harder next time

Couldnt wait to get home to the hotel to show her..

I eventually got home, after some time wastage as we had to wait for the bus to arrive and take us back to the hotel..

Showed sharlene on skype, took a few pictures on it too.. haha

Day 3- China

Today didnt go well at all. And i hate being here. Ill tell you why.

The day started at 7.30am. I changed, and went downstairs to have breakfast. Nuggets. The bus only came at 8.15, so i realise i could revise my waking up time to a later time.

The teacher told us about plans to charter a bus to the silk road place that has a lot of shopping during wednesday, which is the mid autumn festival, so we end early. It was still in the planning stages so we had to discuss somemore.

Class was boring, we learnt about how to tighten bolts and also how to tie them with wire and secure them. The whole morning was theory lessons about only that. I slept through 20 mins of break and it felt really good.

Lunch started at 11.30, grabbing my camera, we headed out to the same canteen for lunch. On the way there, because of the heavy rain last night, the sky was cleared somewhat of smog. A small patch of blue sky was in the distance and it made me happy, becuase the whole time i was here it has been overcast..

We went to another place for lunch (still in the same building but a different restaurant), and the food was better. It just had more meat and this satay that was good.

leaving the place me and jq fell back from the group to take pictures. took quite a lot of pictures, as they had roses growing along the side of the road. I keep having thoughts of plucking one and keeping it. i keep forgetting that im only due to be back in a month.

Before class started, the whole OITP group had a big discussion on where to go during our weekends. We were set for going to silk road on wednesday. As for the weekends, majority of students wanted to go to a theme park. Me and JQ appealed to the teacher that we wanted to opt out of the theme park if the people decided to go. i think the teacher likes us cuz he praised us for our maturity and agreed with us.

The teacher tried to persuade the other students to change their minds but the stupid students were still wanting to go to a theme park.

It doesnt really make a difference for me, since i can opt out. I just need enough people for the teacher to feel safe that we can go to the city to shop by ourselves.

Class started, and we were split into 4 groups. The teacher was going to bring groups 1 by 1 to learn how to tighten bolts and stuff. Practical lessons. While the rest of the groups sat in the classroom to watch the show "air crash investigation". I slept through 1/4 of the waiting time, as it was quite boring cuz i have watched them before...It was only after 2 episodes of air crash investigation finished that it was our turn to go tighten the bolts.

It was interesting, tightening bolts, though i spent more time wandering around the engine room taking photos again. the engines were just so magnificent.

That was the fun part of the day. It was cut short since the bus arrived already and we were running past 4.30 anyway. On the bus, we discussed more and me and JQ decided that we wanted to go to the city to check things out. We managed to get 1 more person along with us, but that was about it.

When we arrived at the hotel i was at the lobby asking the other students if they wanted to tag along. i managed to get 1 group of 8 people to tag along with us,so I told them to meet me downstairs at 5.15, while they were preparing, i would be buying phone cards and that i would be asking the concierge on where to go for shopping and how to go there.

I got a green light from the teacher when i explained my plan to him, and i was really excited.

I waited for some students that also wanted to buy the phone cards, then went to the stall outside the hotel. before i went out of the hotel another group came in holding phone cards. Crap. Because i knew that the shop had limited supply.

I wrote part of my email to Sharlene then, while walking out to the shop.. I didnt know why i was rushing, because i seemed like i had enough time as it was still 5pm and the shuttle bus only arrives at 5.45. But i rushed anyway...

I managed to get the last international number from the shop. There was no more top ups so i was stuck with 30 bucks worth of calls. My other friends all got domestic cards, which were in abundant supply. The shop auntie told me to come back tomorrow when she recieves her new stock of cards..

Then i went back into the hotel and started asking the hotel staff on how to go about shopping. The first preson i asked didnt really understand what i wanted, and then we managed to find some manager or something. This guy which spoke moderately good english and was really helpful.

He showed us which street had lots of shopping and what trains to take. I had to take pictures and maps cuz i couldnt remember Chinese names properly.

I always assumed that travelling time wouldnt be more than 20 mins. Gosh i was wrong. Their maps were in a larger scale that singapore maps. thats why i mis estimated.

The news was bad when JQ found out that it would take 50 mins to go to some train interchange, then another 20 mins to the shopping area.

Looking that quite a lot of people has came down already, we decided to just go ahead with it. it was 5.30 then. I typed somemore and tried sending through my iphone's notepad app. then i realised that it didnt work last time so i used safari to send it through hotmail instead. So it worked. The bus was already here by then and so we had to board.

However, only 15 people could go on and there was like another group wanting to go.

the arrangement was to head to terminal 3, then take a shuttle to meet the other group (who will take another hotel shuttle to terminal 2 when the bus arrives 15 mins later),the idea being that we would meet each other at terminal 2 at the same time, then take a train down to the city.

It was a bad idea, since terminal 2 was at the other end of the airport and it took us even longer to reach.. we wasted a lot of time.. We eventually took the airport train to the city. It cost each of us 5 sing dollars.

The city was around 80 km away from the airport, i know this because i stood at the drivers cab at the head of the train and looked at its speedometer. It averaged 100km/h.

When we arrived at the interchange, the other groups still wanted to continue on, but my group of 4 people (yep, one more guy joined us), decided to stay put at this area and make do with whatever shopping is around, tihs was due to time constraints because it was already quite late and we didnt have much more time to spare.

We came out of the subway and was greeted by large buildings, however, most of them were office bildings and only raffles city was a mall and some other chinese mall.. We decided to head to raffles city, crossing roads that had pedestrian crossings but did not have traffic lights. We just essentially jaywalked all the way, i guess thats how the system works in here..

Raffles city was disappointing. The goods were real, branded stuff, like zeke, levis, citygold..no juicy, no nothing. We walked around, and the prices were high. It just felt like singapore again. Its so similar, and nothing was cheaper that it was in singapore. We walked the basement several times and no food appealed to us. The 2 guys in my little private group decided on subway, while me and JQ told them we would meet again at 7.30

so JQ and i roamed. We walked out into a back alley, and around a corner, a really nice smell of barbeque assualted our noses. Tempted, it looked real good and we were hungry, but we resisted. You never know whats in there... We walked quite far before we had to turn back due to time. We stopped at a convenicene stall to buy some biscuits and maggie mee, just incase we did not find food to eat..

We headed back, and then rejoined with our 2 members and started to leave. Thats when we saw the other herd of people from oitp. Apparently, they copied us and decided to stay in the area too.. (i wasnt leading the herd, i just kinda gathered them initially at the hotel and offered them to tag along with me, just so that the teacher would approve of us going out on our own)

I asked the information counter for other malls near the area and she said there was only one other as this was more of a business district. So we went there. We walked around a bit, but it had almost the same things as raffles city had. Real goods, however, they were expensive.

It was hopeless, so me and JQ decided to eat at Mcdonalds, while the other 2 went to look around again. The macdonald wasnt really different from singapores macdonald, it just had some additional stuff that we dont have, like the grilled chicken sandwhich i had. They also have just caught on to the concept of chicken nuggets with something like curry sauce.

The grilled chicken sandwhich i had was nice. It tasted like a well grilled and tasty chicken patty in a sandwhich with a bit of the sauce from big macs. Its not bad. JQ had a McSpicy, which he said was hotter than Singapores version.

The fries there were a little stubbier and shorter, and the coke tasted different, like the china cokes my father buys..

After that, we went to the basement to look for our group members, and saw ajisen. heh. Would have eaten there if we had found it first. There was nothing much there to look at, and so we decided to head home as it was already 9 anyway.

Back at the train station we met with the herd of people from other groups again. Some took taxi back while 11 of us took public transportation back again.. The ride was long.

We waited quite a while for the bus shuttle to the hotel to arrive, and waited longer while the hotel staff had to delay the bus so that some customer can be fetched when he comes out of the airport. Wasted a lot of precious time.

Arrived back in the hotel only at 10.30...

Today was a really unfruitful day.. and a bad day too. My smses never got through to Sharlene it turns out.. and i shouldnt have listened to the phone shop auntie on what to dial when trying to contact people.

So far Beijing has been bad.. sigh. I just hope that tomorrows trip would yield some results.

Its our anniversary. this one slightly more special..

I still remember the day that we first met, quite clearly really. i remember that you were that cheerful girl that was gonna sign up for cheer leading. Then i stole a few shots of you then.

Yes i know. i sound pervy.

You did leave an impression, but it was only on the surface that i know you.

Then some way or another, we meet again under a different circumstance, and i got to know you better, and better.

Since then we have been through lots of things, thick and thin, difficulties and obstacles.
But a few months later, here we are.

It just seemed such a short time ago, time seems to go by so quickly. Especially when im with you.

I really enjoy the time we spend together, even after so many months, almost every day of the week. Its still not enough..

I miss you already darling..

Sharlenes 19th - Pictures!

Freshman welcome party post here.. (blogger screwed up big time, not allowing more than 1 post to be viewed..)

I went over to sharlenes house for her birthday party, arriving a bit
earlier and helped get ready stuff..

The theme of the party was "Alice in Wonderland", and Sharlene printed
out little slips of paper that had wonderlandish quotes printed on
it.. It was pasted all over the place..

While we waited for ppl to arrive, we did some last min dressing up..

I guess only Sharlene, Erica and I got into the theme.. Heh, Erica with her
cotton ball feelers (it wasnt really visible till sharlene stuffed cotten inside the swirls) and me with some hat

Nt sure what Sharlene was supposed to dress up as though hahah.. though she had this nice hair
band ribbon thing. I guess, shes being alice..

Mmm, alright, some last min outing with the guys a long time ago, at hogs breaths 1 for 1 promotion..

I can safely say, its definitely better, and cheaper than Ashtons. (not to mention, the food is better too)

money money money.. ok random. i just have this bunch of coins to get rid of..

Its the holidays and this time, we didnt really plan on going anywhere since i still had my syfc stuff.

This was a really last min trip though, really need to thank my mom for planning the trip in a snap.

Anyway, we headed for KL first, did some shopping, Bought some clothes and another rc helicopter, hehe.

Yes they were definitely homeless. I've never seen so many homeless people like this before. strewn all around, like clothes that you throw around yr bed room. covering every easily accessible surface you can find.)

Their mall had this really cool roller coaster built into it. Downsides are, the building shakes everytime the coaster moves.

Then the next day, we headed for genting, first taking a coach, then a cable car ride.

Cable cars are clipped onto the cable, and its the cable that moves the cabin.

Damn nice, although i probably damaged my eyes a bit more.

We were quite lost at first when we went there, cuz it was quite big, but we eventually got round to finding the check in area. The place was huge. The largest check in lobby i've ever seen. Probably because everyone checks in for 1 or 2 days only, so theres a huge amount of people flow.

You didnt see that. Anyway, we left our luggages to the bell boys and went to the outdoor theme park to try the rides.

As for my constipated face. Yeah, its cuz my mom was always taking pictures of me.

The size of the place was rather disappointing. I mean, compared to the disney worlds of the US of A. But of course, its a hell lot cheaper. So like, whos complaining.

Rides were okish, more like the really upgraded version of Singapores Escape theme park. 1 Spine crushing vertical ride thingy, 2 loopy coasters and 1 smaller coaster are the main attractions. Didnt take much pictures there as i spent more time Queuing than anything else.

I started off with what would be the best ride in the whole place. Space shot. Mom Queued with me but didnt go onto the ride itsself as she tends to get nauseous so she doesnt want to spoil the whole day.

Scary, especially when youre up at the top of the tower, and you can see the surroundings, youre the highest on the hill top and you can see the whole genting hill sloping up through the clouds. Totally cool. Then, the sudden drop, faster than you can fall due to gravity. Really fun.

Then we went to Q for the go-karts, since i wanted my mom to have some fun too, but we decided not to Q cuz the looping coaster just opened. So i rode that twice, then spent a huge amount of time waiting for the go-karts.

my mom and fluffy stuffed toys that someone asked her to hold while they went go-karting. (she was damn happy cuz its damn comfortable to hug)

After that, we checked in (cuz our check in time was later in the afternoon), then went to look for Sharlene and her sister. Too bad they didnt get the tickets for the theme park on that day, so for the rest of the afternoon, i was mostly alone on most of the other rides.

Near the end of the day, i managed to convince my mom to ride the space shot. hahahh. She went up TWICE. the second time without persuasion. Apparently, the space shot doesn't really induce nausea, or maybe it just happened too fast for nausea to set in.. heheh.

Managed to sneak Sharlene and Erica up the indoor ferris wheel even though they didnt have tickets. hahah

like the lights.

I remember we also tried to sneak into the movie theater, Erica managed to get in without problems, though when the rest of us went in, they decided to come in to check out tickets, hahaha. CAUGHT. Anyway, we escaped unharmed..

At night, the two evil sisters decided that i shall take all the indoor rides no matter how kiddy or lame it is. And trust me, there was a ton of those rides.

The next day started off really cold. Met Sharlene and her sister, then bought their tickets and went to play in the cold morning air. Most of the extreme ride were still closed.

The whole time this ride was closed, i think due to the high winds and low visibility due to clouds.

yeah. So much effort to get in to this shirt backwards.

hahah Erica was totally frightened by this bridge.

What was initially quite a glam and good position to take pictures quickly turned around and become a multitude of unglam shots as she screamed for help (she was gonna fall off the rock. hahahahhaha)

Its the end of exams, and of course, the season for GO parties.

Anyway, just to set the mood first, some gay themed china performance seen in Vivo while out with sharlene during one of the days.. but since i was being totally flaccid, i took lousy photos and instead, im gonna post photos that i didnt post up last time..

Alright, now the exams are finally over, but i still have syfc to fly for. Syfc is getting quite critical now, no major screw ups are allowed.

Im doing circuits now, which means taking off and landing, repeatedly. Its tiring, and its hot, like sitting in a slow moving car in the hot sun without airconditioning.

I come back all sweaty and tired, but well, its fun i guess, the landing parts especially.

Right got carried away, anyway, i spent wednesday with sharlene in city square and watched the book of Eli.

hmm okish show really, the knife scenes are nice though.

Walked around and sharlene bought me a pair of jeans, then she went home and i went to the GO parteh at Wilsons house.

Well, they were planning something to disturb dong since we hadnt did his birthday party. I arrived very late because i went home and bathed first before arriving.

Chris took videos, and i think dong took some pictures too, which, Weirdly, he wasnt really enjoying it, just trying to capture everything on his ipod. Well heck, the rest of us still enjoyed it eh.. heh..

Took some time off studies yesterday and went to take some photos with Sharlene.

Quite happy with the results..

Softened the picture a bit.. Was taking the pictures on manual mode since the exposure measurement on the camera was sucking..

Softened this picture too. I tried using flash since the light was coming from below but it didnt work as the flash was white, while the colour of the lights there was orange, so in the picture the flash turned blue. which was really terrible.

heh perv shot.

mmm. Sharlene didnt allow me to post some pictures though due to her high standards of quality control.. ahhh sianz. if nt got a lot of nice one that she just thinks its not nice but it really is nice.

The Long Overdue Update

Alright I'm back here with another update.

Hmm let's start with syfc first. I recently got promoted into phase 2,
a step closer to my goal of getting a pilots license.

Really happy with that, since I did not expect to pass into that phase
as my main instructor has a reputation for being really strict when it
come to passing students. So I guess I'm doing pretty well.

That day I did stalling practice, (stalling is where the aircraft
falls out of the sky as there is not enough speed to fly anymore).
It was really fun, as it involved the Aircraft dropping, so it was
quite like a roller coaster ride.

The aim of the exercise was to recover (as in going back to normal
flight) within 200ft. Quite important since you usually get into a
stall during landing, so you don't have much height to lose at all.
It isn't as easy to stall this plane as you think.

There are 2 types of stall, the one where it's going to stall, and the
one that stalls (it's not really correct but I'm just using really
simple terms here)

When the plane is going to stall, the nose of the aircraft is already
really high, and u won't see the ground in front of you. It's really
obvious that you are entering a stall for this plane, and to enter a
deep stall, you would have to force the plane to stall, and believe me
it involves pulling back on the stick quite forcefully.

Mixed feelings for it though, as now I really have to carefully plan
my time. Having syfc isn't a walk in the park, Theres tons of things
to memorise, practice, and study. Plus the time taken up by travelling
all the way to seletar makes the rest of your free time really precious.

Hmm what's next. School. It's stressful. I'm coping. But i really need
to speed up my studying. The damn exams are approaching yet again.


Alright, here's something that will make u curse me..

I'll make it clear first, I didn't ask for 1.

My dear mom got me an iPhone.

Thx mom.. You're the best. But I already know you're the best.. You
really really didn't have to get an iPhone..

So now I'm happily bringing along my iPhone, and already a few flaws
are starting to get to me..

Alright, the most obvious one Is the fact that it's so tightly bound
to iTunes that every damn thing has to involve iTunes.

Secondly, it doesn't have as many logs as a normal phone has.. Call
logs. Out going and incoming duration. The amount of mags u sent and
recieved.. Those stuff.. It only has a very general counter that says
total call time..

I'll talk about it more in another post I think..

Hahah, that's what I wrote on my iPhone about 1 week ago. Well, that
didn't get posted heh.

So now I'm actually at my gradma's typing this up.. Hopefully I get
this post out by new years heh.. And of course, valentines.

So since the last time I've written the opening paragraphs, I have
already flown 3 times already, and also done quite some other stuff
too..

I finally landed a plane!

Yup. The first landing was quite hard, as I pulled back on the
control column a bit too hard as I thought that the aircraft was
dropping a bit too much..

So the plane floated a bit more than it should, which increased the
height that the plane was going to 'stop flying' from, thus makig the
landing a bit rougher than It should have been.

The original method of landing the plane was to hold the plane at this
specific angle that would make the plane fly straight and level, then
we would close the throttle (or stop addig power) and the plane would
slowly lose speed.

When the plane loses it's speed, it would sink more, and to prevent it
from sinkig, we would tilt the plane up a bit more to stop the sink,
and we keep raising the nose like this until the plane loses a lot of
speed and it no longer flies, thus it would drop. But by then the
height that the aircraft would drop would be very small, and then
landing would be a really smooth affair.

The latest sortie I had was somewhat cancelled because of really
strong winds, Which made flying the plane quite really hard,
especially near te landing.

The way we guide the plane to land was by holding the aim point( which
ever spot we intend to land at, usually at the numbers on the start of
the runway.)  at the same place infront of us, while we keep the plane
at a constant 65 knots, using the throttle (something like the
function of the gas pedal in a car) to keep the plane at this speed.

Because the wind isn't a constant speed, when it gusts, the speed
indicated would drop, making me correct for it to increase throttle to
keep the speed constant, but when the gusts dies down, the speed would
increase, thus the plane would be faster than it should be, thus the
eight of the plane would be wrong, so we have to correct it, which
makes things a lot more complicated.

Haha. Enough plane speak for today.


So I have finally finished my car project, and am quite really proud
of it.. Too bad I didn't bring my camera on that day, but I had the
iPhone with me, so I took some shots of our clases cars.

Proud because the whole car was designed by me. The car shape, decals,
and colour. Hehe. Nathanel and I made and plastered the car, while
daisy did a bit of plastering and lots of sanding. Haha

Yay. And the car got choosen to represent the class as the best
designed. Hehe damn proud.

I did not manage to post this out in time anyway hmm.

Heh, rmb I told u about me being in this certain cca thing. Yeah.. I
roped Sharlene into it too, and she made this poster for the next
event that our cca was planning this time round..

Ok great this is now another day that I'm continuing this post on the
iPhone.. Hmmm

Mom got a new internet connection plan too. Now the speed is like
 5 times more than what i usually have. Its damn good. Im downloading
 stuff like nobodys business now. Its really good too because when i want
to look for past pictures that i have posted on my blog, the pictures take
much less time to load and i can search faster.

HEhehe, and now flickr uploads really fast too.

But i still have yet to solve the internet connection problem though.
the wireless sometimes cuts out or the modem loses connection totally.
I suspect its the modem... should have gotten the more common one..
shit cant rmb its name arg.

But everyone owns it, well starhub ppl anyway.
Shouldnt have gotten some lousy cheapass modem from singtel.. pftt.

Ok now that I am actually at my main computer (after So long) hmm I
shall start blogging and refreshing my memory by looking at the
pictures again..

Another time, another day at vivo..


I remember.. It was a wednesday. This was taken while i was waiting for my
mom to come take me to the doctor at raffles place. Took very little shots as
i felt damn weird with the big lens walking around raffles place taking pictures
of birds.

Hmm that day i racked up a large bill of 160+ for some medicine for the
skin cuz i kept getting recurring rashes.. gah. ouch. painful... i mean.
its not even that serious lah wthh..


then later that day we had a lighting workshop for our new cca.. really
interesting stuff cuz we got taught about the lighting system on an average
stage and also how to program the lights and stuff..

Near the end of the workshop we had to program a "light show" that
would suit the music that we chose. I teamed up with Sharlene and we
picked the song Tutti Frutti Summer Love by Gunther..

And everytime the deep low voice says something all the lightz would all
turn purple and only one light would shine at this particular spot in the audience.
 Totally kinky. Was laughing all the way through the "show" haha.

Really that hard?

hmm, yes its hard, but not really for the reason that im really lazy.

Its just that i dont feel a sense of satisfaction when i post a short post about random facts.

Plus, it irritates me a bit whenever i dont have a picture to show. hmm, thats why most of my ideas of what to post would not be written out at all because it would just be too short.

Yep, but its worrying though, at this rate of 1 post per week, its quite saddening.

Projects, projects...

Talking about school.. Been really hectic this 2 weeks, rushing projects, presentations, and trying to get back into the schooling mood.

Im coping well, but not perfectly. Stupid projects keeps on piling, and sometimes you just lose the motivation to keep track of whats going on anymore.

Mixed feelings for my results though.

I've always thought that this semester would be harder due to the subjects, and i never really aimed for full marks.

Got As for every subjects again. Plus Oral Communications (yay)

Happy that my gpa would not be pulled down but not satisfied that my results were so close to full marks. (last sems Mid Sem Test, i got full marks for 3 subs, and 2 were close to full).

Looking back, i should have aimed for full marks like the last round. ahh, oh well. sigh.

Hahah, yup. Had great fun with the guys at one of our meets at Plaza Sing during the week, brought my camera but was too distracted to take any pictures.

Went home early to do the NS registration thing, then Gabs came to my house to burn some time while we waited till 6 to leave. Cant remember what we were laughing about when we went out of the house but it brought back the memories of sec 4 for some reason.

'Met' Perry at dobhy station but pretended that we didnt see him, so Perry followed us and we decided to lead him to some pharmacy (we originally wanted to lead him to some lingerie shop but didnt know where).

That was damn funny. I really dunno how to describe to you haha.

Uhg, waited for the rest at Carls Jr, then we walked to paradiz and played L4D2 in the lan shop opposite paradiz.

Grouped with Aric, Boaz and Wei Jun, we thought that we would do everything really nicely and wouldnt have to rush for project with hardworking ppl in our group. Heh. Nope.

Finished the project really really last min. Ahh, well, we still did well right. Yay.

Yup. This was on the day its self. Didnt even know who was going to explain the equipment here.

U can guess what we were going to pour in through the pipes already.
(we mixed cooking chocolate with chrysanthemum tea and some water to simulate sewage)

Yup, and i was the poor guy who was pretending to take a shit.

Hmm and then there was syfc, Where i got this really nice instructor that day. And we had some extra time left in flight, so he asked me "have you been to the moon?".
Im like "uhhh, no?".

Yeah, then he took out his flying gloves and put it on his palm,

"watch this ah", he said, before pushing the plane into a fast nose dive.

The glove floated above his palm for 3 seconds.

Heheh. 3 seconds of 0g flight. Fun.

He then did some loops in the air, pitching the plane 90 degrees into the air until it ran out of speed, then the plane flipped over and dived.

Best Ever Flight.so much Better than a roller coaster.

Yeah, then there was Daniels Birthday. His 18th. Yup. Hes now Legal. God help the world.

Quite surprised that i managed to keep a good speed throughout the journey, as i havnt cycled for ages. Surprised that Daniels cousin kept up too, not bad at all, since most people would totally die after half the journey.

East coast park is nicer than the last time i went there, some repaved paths and greener grass. hmm didnt bring my camera though, was really scared it would rain heavily.

Cycled 60 km that day.brought back all the memories of all the good old times..

Its definitely not a good way to start off 2010 with a picture of my tits up against the bathroom wall. So YEAH.

Not gonna mention it anymore. so much for thinking i'd make my reputation better in 2010 huh.

So anyway,
GO heads off to party in JB again. Well, its more like half of GO anyway.
I went with Darren, Perry and Beaver this time round.

The second time going through customs without my family around and im already quite familiar with the place. Its really easy lah.

Anyway, we checked into this really small hotel that Sharlene booked earlier for us. 4 people squeezed into a room ment for 2 people. Plus, its a small hotel. Its like, just enough space for the king size bed, and a really small bathroom.

Nonetheless, it was quite cozy.

Lazed around and watched malaysian tv drama, whihc is damn funny when you decide to dub them.

Darren organised a Christmas BBQ at his house, and most of everyone were present.

Reached his house expecting the BBQ to be held in the park opposite his house but turns out they were doing it out in his "yard", which was quite crammed.

Anyway, its Christmas Eve. So, what are you doing reading my blog.

oh well, nevermind, at least i have comfort that there are other people like me that spend the eve of Christmas in front of their computers. heh.

hmm, i shall start off with the mini GO Party we had some days earlier.
Got off to a really late start as bus 80 was being a bitch. Ended up about 1 hr later than expected.

Went to kovan kfc, and for some reason the first thing we did to 'greet' perry and dong was to press ourselves up against the glass. Didnt have the desired effect though, cuz dong and perry didnt really notice us, but most of the other patrons in kfc did. Heh.

Ate like a bitch, or rather, gabriel ate like a bitch, then bought some stuff and went to wilsons house.

The guys played poker all night, while i played call of duty 4 on my laptop.
freak, i realise my laptop is damn powerful and im so underusing it. Like i only use it for school stuff, and i dont even play games on it. (i usually use my house computer once i get home.)

Tuesday was hectic, had to wake up at 6 and leave for syfc simulator training. Then after that i went to school to try to complete the ideas project. (the one where we had to make the car).

completed it quite quickly (judging by our progress compared to other groups), now its just painting that we have to complete.) Quite worried about some parts though, as it was quite thin and looked fragile.

Didnt take photos of the car though, heh. Next post i guess.

Then i had some lighting exercise for my cca later that night.

then i suggested bringing out all the equipment at the back of the stage to create a nice background. (cables werent plugged in and we were missing a guitar and mics as we were too lazy to go up to the moberly jam room and take the guitar from there.)

lights were really hard to control as we lost the key to programm the lights, so we had to use trial and error to find the lights that shone at the spot we wanted.

yeah, so i was happily taking my time taking photos, while the rest of them got impatient with me and did their own stuff..

who cares man, i got nice shots. haha, though i really didnt know where to position the amps and the keyboard though.

i realise im not good at positioning objects and controlling the environment. Im just good at finding the best angles to capture the place in a photo.

i really like the backdrop. Its not as nice in real life but when the lighting is correct, it becomes really beautiful.

took a lot of tries to get it right. had to run up and down multiple times cuz we didnt have help in taking this photo (timer mode and tripod ftw?)

Yesterday, i went out with Aric and Wei Jun to do our Oral Communications project. Well, if u havnt already known, we decided to do a topic on the sewage system. Hah. heah.

Anyway, woke up really late that day, then rushed to tanah merah and ran for the shuttle bus. Damn wei jun made me think that the bus was waiting for me and made me run like a bitch.

Turns out that i had 3 mins more and the bus only contained aric and wj and nobody else. tsk.

Reached there and there was a whole bunch of people from Myanmar or something that were also visiting. Totally weird cuz the guide assumed everyone was from another country and it was super awkward for us to be around.

First thing i did was to fill my cup with tap water. DRINKABLE TAP WATER.

Thursday...
Flew today. Sortie 3. What a fun experience flying can be when you get the right instructors.

We did more air exercises than normal, all the way till stalling and circuits, which would only be covered a long way away. Stalling is really fun. Like, the airplane suddenly drops out of the sky and banks quite a lot. Better than a roller coaster.

and for the first time, i was worried about bird strikes. There was a flock of small birds in the approach path of airplanes on final (going to land). Flew right into the middle of it. Damn scary.

hmmm, took a train down to dover, got some revision papers from Ting Wei, courtesy of Aric. Then got chased out of the station for drinking water. tsk. stupid rule.

Dinner at Gmoms hse was awkward. Haha, really didnt think anything through...

NZ Final

Hah, yeah, this was due soo long ago.

Dont be confused by the chronology of the pictures though. This post includes the last 2 days spent in NZ, thus, night and day, and two flights.

We left this really nice place for christchurch on a plane (damn we should have drove back instead).

Surprisingly, the seats on the budget carrier was actually more comfortable than SIA's seats. hmmm

Brought my camera to school on Thursday cuz we had to do some IDEAS project later on in the day. So took some photos too.

Then we went to Park Mall to complete our IDEAs project, which required us to interview/stalk people buying products and stuff.

Totally awkward cuz we went to the shop, and nobody was there cept the counter person. Yup. "we are checking out this sofa cuz it looks suitable for our project". Guess how much the sofa costs. 11K.

There was friday. Then there was saturday. haha

Then Today. Got my second flight at 2 today. Different instructor this time, and got caught out during the after start checks cuz he did the first few checks himself really quickly. Kinda jumbled up the order of checks i had in my mind. Sigh.

Anyway, weather was really good, could see all the way to bintan. Clouds start at 3000 ft, climbed for 5ooo ft and did our air exercises.

Landing was fun, my instructor explained to me why below 2k ft the air got terbulent is because, like the water in a river, hitting a rock, it would cause the water to churn over the rock right. Same thing applies to air, though the rocks is instead, buildings and trees.

Got to really experience it when we were on final approach, where this line of trees abruptly ended,caused us to loose quite a lot of height all of a sudden. It was really fun nonetheless.

Its been a week already. I realise i really cant keep up with posting more than once a week. hah.

Highlight of the week? Flying.

Yup, i finally flew an actual airplane. Didnt get to take off and land though (duh), but my instructor allowed me to do some maneuvers with it. For example, kicking the rudder left/right. The plane really behaves like in the Flight simulator.

But flying in an actual aircraft is nothing like flight sim at all. For one, you can actually "feel" the plane, so you can anticipate things faster, and correct whatever that crops up faster, rather than using visual cues.

Was quite nervous really, doing the radio calls and stuff. hmmm.

The weather on that day wasnt good, tons of haze and clouds. We couldnt even see the horizon, but im fortunate that the flight did not get canceled due to the weather. Singapore is soo damn small from up there, takes so little time to travel from one end to another.

Crap, my thoughts are skipping from places to places now, cant really type out some coherent post lah. Sigh.

Oh yeah! Did some Gs too. Probably pulled about +1G and 0G. It felt like a really really really fun roller coaster.I love the neg Gs, it feels like youre falling and stuff, didnt like positive gs. makes you feel heavy, and your face gets pulled down. (couldnt hold my smile, yup, i think i was smiling like an idiot in the plane) ahhh cant wait for my next flight!

Last sunday was spent with Ken Tan, you know, that TP guy. Haha, quite wasted really. It rained. Anyway, here were the following pictures taken by us.

oh yeah, a bird flew onto my window sill. Apparently my mom and sis were like whistling and shit, and the bird came here curious. Taken by my mom.
